Shanghai International Circuit, China
29 September, 2018
Lamborghini will be well represented during the inaugural SIC888 event at Shanghai International Circuit, with the announcement that the FFF Racing Team by ACM will field a 2018 Huracan Super Trofeo EVO in the GTM category for four very well credentialed drivers.
Led by FFF team boss Fu Songyang (Sean) and Italian Andrea Caldarelli, who have been instrumental in the ongoing success for the marque in Asia for many years, they will be joined by former GT Asia Series and Lamborghini Super Trofeo champion Andrea Amici, and long-time FFF driver Hiroshi Hamaguchi who just a week ago was standing on the second step of the podium in the hotly contested Blancpain GT Series Asia round at Shanghai.
Alongside Fu, Caldarelli has been a driving force behind the successes of the FFF operation in Asia, successes which include multiple wins in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, GT Asia and Blancpain GT Series Asia, but beyond that, Caldarelli also forms an integral part of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse team in Europe, anchoring one of the leading teams in the Blancpain GT Series.
A former open-wheel star with F1 test credentials and a regular title contender in the iconic Japanese Super GT championship, Caldarelli has one of the best racing resumes in the world, and will bring that experience to play in SIC888.
Andrea Amici is perhaps the most experienced of the four drivers in the new Super Trofeo EVO, the 2016 GT Asia Series champion (for FFF Racing) is currently leading the 2018 Super Trofeo Asia PRO championship outright (alongside team-mate Artur Janosz), the 25 year old also the 2013 Super Trofeo Europe Pro Am champion.
Hiroshi Hamaguchi is one of the most experienced ‘gentleman drivers’ in Asia with strong credentials that also includes success with FFF in Europe. Second outright (as part of an FFF Huracan GT3 1-2) in Blancpain GT Series Asia at Shanghai just over a week ago, Hamaguchi – like Amici (who also won in Super Trofeo Asia at Shanghai the same weekend), starts more than race ready.
Meanwhile, after a brief sabbatical, Sean Fu returned to driving duties at the same Shanghai event, campaigning a FFF Racing Super Trofeo EVO in the LC category running strongly with the series regulars to dial himself back in ahead of the rigours of the 888-kilometre event.
